By-the-numbers. Solid. Uninteresting.
A quiet Vietnam War veteran, Daryll Deever (Hurt), working as a janitor becomes a key witness to the murder of a controversial businessman. Obsessed with the local television news reporter, Tony Sokolow (Weaver), covering the piece, he uses his eyewitness status to get time with her. The film is technically solid and well-acted, but it never gets off the ground. Odd as a romance, generic as a thriller. Interesting to see an early Morgan Freeman role though.
