After watching Disney’s latest Star Wars spin-off, this one devoted to lovable scoundrel and pilot of the Millennium Falcon (Han Solo), I’m left with a question. Just one, but it’s a big one, since I consider myself a hardcore fan of the Star Wars universe. At the end of this film, while Solo is tracking down the stolen loot, his love interest Qi’ra (played by Emilia Clarke) communicates with her, theretofore, mysterious boss, revealed to be Darth Maul. Darth Maul? But wait a minute, didn’t Darth Maul die in Star Wars: Episode 1 (The Phantom Menace). Of course, he did. Obi Wan Kenobi killed him. So if he died in that episode, and apparently he’s alive here, that means Solo: A Star Wars Story takes place before that episode. My Star Wars timeline is completely jacked up then. Since Annakin Skywalker was just a boy of maybe ten, and Solo is at least 20 in his spin-off film, that means Han Solo is older than Annakin. This becomes an issue. That would make Han Solo at least 45 in the original trilogy, and it’s now weird that he ends up with Annakin’s daughter, Princess Leia. Am I missing something? Could it be that the reveal was meant to show that Darth Maul didn’t die? I’m researching, and many mention The Clone Wars animated series. After rewatching the end scene from The Phantom Menace, I see that Darth Maul was cut in half, and tossed down an endless pit. He survived? Okay, Star Wars. Darth Maul’s appearance in Solo, as cool as he is, makes no sense to me. Calling all ultra nerd friends. Help me out.

  1. *sigh* In the Expanded Universe (Legends according to Disney), Darth Maul does survive his death in The Phantom Menace. He’s given a cybernetic lower half and legs and he winds up tracking down Obi-Wan shortly after his exile on Tattooine when they have a rematch and he meets his final death there. He also has been on several adventures in addition to that. But that’s no longer canon anymore because Kathleen Kennedy is retarded. So I don’t know. The new continuity is all over th map. Their stupid. They have no idea what they are doing. The movie’s not good anyway. I don’t consider any of this new stuff canon at this point and it should best be ignored. I still like Force Awakens and Rogue One so I’m willing to consider them canon to original…..somehow. And Rebels is really good. So that counts too.

By the way, dude, how do I e-mail you? Last we talked was like a month ago and I’m really sorry for not getting back to you. I’ve been super busy but I haven’t forgotten you. Send me your e-mail in messenger on facebook.
