The Wedding Singer (1998)
For a fairly low-brow comedy, The Wedding Singer actually has three scenes I really love. I debated between Steve Buscemi’s best man speech which is gold or probably the most famous scene in which Adam Sandler puts his suicidal thoughts into song form, but ultimately, I think I laugh hardest at this, an ultra-pathetic rendition of Madonna’s “Holiday.” Sandler’s character, Robbie, the titular wedding singer, has just been left at the altar and told he’s never going anywhere. Trying to get back on the horse, he performs at a couple’s wedding, but…his heart isn’t in it. George in the background, doing his best with forced cheer really makes the scene.
