Friends and fellow singles Janet (Fonda), Steve (Scott), Cliff (Dillon), and Linda (Sedgwick) struggle to find what they want in a relationship. Janet loves rock wannabe and meathead Cliff, Cliff wants to live the rockstar life with lots of women, Linda’s been hurt and wants to play it safe even if that means ending up in a loveless marriage, and Steve pines for Linda while listening to some spotty advice from his friends. This is an excellent film, exuberant and smart. This was when director/writer Cameron Crowe was a man of unlimited ideas, and, in part, thanks to the actors, each crazy idea comes off well.
