Enthralling. Rousing. Classic.
Through the whims of a corrupt king, Peter Blood (Flynn), once a skilled Irish doctor, is dragged from his home and his comfortable life, and made a prisoner, sold as a slave in the Caribbean, and freed by a chance opportunity. He then starts his career as a famed pirate captain. De Havilland plays his love interest (pairing the two together for the first time), a wealthy British subject who purchases Blood as a slave, but can’t help falling for him. Terrific action sequences, great antagonistic chemistry between the stars, and an engrossing adventure story.
