Brutal. Tense. Dramatic.

Intense cat and mouse-like chase film involving a former cop turned pimp and a man who he believes is kidnapping and selling off his best girls. The truth is even sicker than that, and most of the film’s running time is dedicated to one frenzied, adrenaline-filled scene after another. Foregoes mystery and suspense, instead focusing on the unique lead characters and blunt action. The Chaser is elevated by the performances and the direction, however, I feel Hong-jin’s successive works prove more substantial.
