Starring Adam Sandler, Jennifer Hudson, Kevin James, Nick Swardson, Terry Crews, Lamorne Morris, Jane Seymour, Colin Quinn
Somewhere on the Just Go With It-Blended level of Adam Sandler movies, Sandy Wexler stars the aforementioned as an earnest, hardworking talent manager with a host of marginally talented clients. Suddenly he finds Courtney Clarke (Hudson), and knows she has the stuff to become a star. He falls in love with her, just as he realizes that he’s holding her career back. The film has some nice moments. Some jokes land. But it misses out on a lot of opportunities, mainly because Sandler’s central performance is grating. Woody Allen did this basic concept better in Broadway Danny Rose. The countless cameos seem overindulgent.
